A Princess and Her Daddy

On Friday night, February 17th, Robbie and Kaelyn attended their third annual Princess Ball at our church. Robbie and I started talking about the date in advance with Kaelyn, and she had been anxiously awaiting the night for several weeks. This year she helped pick out her Princess Ball dress (which we also use for our Easter dress). When we were at the store trying it on, she stood in front of the mirror to make sure it "twirled" enough for her liking. The morning of the ball, she reminded her daddy of all the things he needed to wear for their evening date. She said, "jacket, pink shirt, pink tie, and shoes." When she woke from her afternoon nap, we began the task of getting the Princess ready by painting her toes and fingernails and then finished with curling her hair and putting on her bow. We got together with our friends to take pictures, but Kaelyn was acting shy and didn't join in with her friends for the pictures. Thankfully, I was able to snap a few of Kaelyn and her daddy though.

Just watching the other girls get their pictures taken.

But, she was all about individual pictures
with her daddy!

Robbie said that they had a great time. She especially loved dancing on the stage where they had the screen flashing fun colors. By the end of the evening, Kaelyn wasn't quite slowing down, but instead finished off the night with sommersaults. They made it home around 9:15 p.m. and she was very excited to show off her dance moves. I think it's safe to say she had a great date with her daddy! She already asked if she can go again. A year away is a long time to wait! We are looking forward to next year's Princess Ball already.

Lastly, I cannot forget mommy's sweet date for the evening. Rylan and I joined the other moms and sons for dinner at GattiTown. He was so tuckered out that we headed home and he fell asleep in my arms before turning in for the night. I'm looking forward to a date with him again this time next year.

Sweet sleeping boy!

9 Months Gone Too Quickly

Rylan is 10 1/2 months old now (even though this post is his 9 month blog post) and is crawling and pulling up on everything in sight. It won't be much longer before he is walking. He is such a sweet little boy, and we are overjoyed to have him in our lives. Here are his 9 month stats:

Height: 28 1/4 inches (50%)

Weight: 20 lbs. 7 oz. (55%)

Head: 18 inches (65%)

Rylan loves:
  • Playing with his sister until she takes away a toy from him and then he gets really mad (we didn't realize he had a little temper until the first time this happened)
  • Loves to walk behind his little turtle or CAT truck (he's itching to walk on his own, but just isn't quite ready)
  • Eats so much more than Kaelyn ever did (about 5 times per day for solids, and 3-4 times with nursing); his favorite foods are oatmeal with banana cereal, sweet potatoes with bananas and cinnamon, bananas, mandarin oranges, mashed potatoes, mum mums, yogurt, apple blueberry, and so much more. I'm really enjoying making all of his baby food and wish that I would have made Kaelyn's for her.
  • Squints his eyes and makes a funny "gasping-for-air" sound when he laughs
  • Loves to snuggle with mommy right before bed time
  • Still takes two naps per day (thank goodness because mommy definitely needs the down time)
  • Wrestles with our faces when you try to give him too many kisses (it's really funny to watch)
  • Waits anxiously and patiently for daddy to get home from work (he just might be a daddy's boy)
  • Loves to crawl after balls; he doesn't want to hold the ball, but wants to play chase with it
  • He's very patient when Kaelyn wants to put headbands or jewelry on him (he will probably be upset with us for not putting a stop to this when he gets older)
  • He's an escape artist when it comes to diaper changing time
  • Enjoys playing upstairs in the gameroom where he has plenty of space to crawl and explore

We cannot believe that he is quickly approaching 1 year old! Time really does fly by. Rylan, we love you with all of our hearts and cannot imagine what life would be without you in it. You are one special little boy who is loved by everyone you come in contact with. We know there are big plans in store for you as you continue to grow. The Lord blessed us when he chose us to be your mommy and daddy!

Love,

Mommy, Daddy and Kaelyn
