Finding out the sex of the baby!

Robbie and I visited Dr. Gore yesterday for an early screening sonogram. We were so excited to see the baby and how much it has grown over the last few weeks and to possibly find out the sex of the baby. Before the doctor entered the room, Robbie told me he was secretly hoping for a little girl. I got onto him because I thought he was going to jinx us by saying what he wanted. As the doctor performed the sonogram, we were able to see the baby move its little arm and bounce around. At first, I thought I was doing something to make the baby move, but the doctor said it was doing it all on its own. It was amazing to see the difference several weeks make in the growth of the baby. At the end, Dr. Gore told us that he is 80% sure that it's a girl! We were really excited and stunned to finally be able to call our little "it" a "she." We definitely aren't on our way to buying anything pink or painting the nursery, but it's nice to think we know what it is for a while. We will have more confirmation in a couple of months at our February 12th visit. Then we can make plans regarding paint color. Robbie and I are both ecstatic. Check out the pictures of our little baby girl. She was busy moving her arm in one of them.

11 week Check-Up with Dr. Umholtz!

Robbie and I went in today for our 11 week check-up and got to hear the heartbeat of our baby. Dr. Umholtz said the heartbeat is good and strong at approximately 160 beats per minute. Robbie asked her if she could determine the sex of the baby based on the beats per minute and Dr. Umholtz told him, "Of course, it's a girl!" She paused for a couple of seconds and replied, "and I'm usually right 50% of the time." It took Robbie a minute to get a grasp of what she was saying because I think he was in shock that she said it might be a girl. It was very funny to see Robbie sweat. We go back to visit another doctor on Monday, December 29th for an early screening and might actually find out the sex of the baby earlier than what we thought. Neither one of us cares whether the baby is a girl or a boy, but we definitely hope it is healthy. This is a very fun and exciting time for us!

We are Pregnant!

Robbie and I are 9 1/2 weeks pregnant! We visited the doctor last Wednesday before Thanksgiving and had our first sonogram and picture of the baby. Its little heart was beating so fast. We are both very excited and can't wait until July 7th (our due date) when we can welcome home a new family member. We told all the rest of the family at Thanksgiving and have started breaking the news to other loved ones. The baby will be the first grandchild and great-grandchild in both the Hudson and Perry families. Grandma Killian even announced the news to her whole Sunday school class. The excitement is contagious! In continuing the yearly tradition, Robbie gave me the cutest ornament (see image) to celebrate what is going on in our lives this year on our Christmas tree. I've been feeling a little nauseated and extremely tired, but hopefully it will get better after the first trimester. We go back to the doctor on Friday, December 19th for our 12 week check-up.

Robbie's 28th Birthday!

Robbie turned 28 on Tuesday, December 2nd. His firm scheduled a New Lawyer's Group function with the managing partner at the Mavericks vs. Clippers game that night. He thought I wasn't going to get to spend his birthday with him, but some of his great friends, Angie and John, at the firm surprised him and got me an extra ticket to attend the game in the suite with him! The attached picture is his birthday cake (chocolate with marshmallows) and him sneaking it out of the suite on the nice crystal platter. The Mavericks ended up winning in the last two minutes of the game beating the Clippers unexpectedly. It turned out to be a great night after all!

The destruction we call our backyard!

As you can see from the pictures, our backyard is no more! Pulte Homes is redoing the retaining wall behind our house, and we stand to gain a bigger backyard once they are done with it. But for now, it's a wreck! Bama is in Longview with mom and dad so he won't be bothered. At least, Pulte gave us a cattle fence that allows us to use our grill. Otherwise, I wouldn't know what to cook.
